I first learned about self-awareness when I was in the middle of a big move. I was a little in shock, you know. The first time I actually had to take my eyes off the road for a few hours was when I went back to school. I was so confused. I just felt so out of it I couldn’t think straight. The next day I went back and had the whole experience again.

So self-awareness is a way to identify the self and recognize it for what it is. Without self awareness you might have a bunch of different thoughts in your head. You might think about how to get out of a car crash, how to deal with a bad boss, and how to get a job. If you have self-awareness, you can look at your life and realize you have the same thoughts and feelings as everyone else.

In their interview with Kotaku, Creative Director Adam Savage said that self-awareness is a great way to see what you’re really doing, and to recognize when your actions are actually self-serving.

Self-awareness may seem like a new thing for us here on the Internet, but it’s actually a pretty old idea. The earliest use of it was in Plato’s Symposium, where Socrates (who is an example of someone without self-awareness) and his companions discuss how to behave in a way that is beneficial to the good of the community and the people.

The word self-awareness was added to the Oxford English Dictionary in 1885 to describe the awareness of other people. When you are having conversations with friends, family, work colleagues, or others on a regular basis, it’s easy to get lost in your own thoughts, but your actions can be self-serving. The same is true when you’re in a meeting. You’re not being aware of what you’re doing, but you are the one who is aware of it.

Thats what I did in my weekly group discussion with my colleagues. I realized I was getting so distracted by my own thoughts that I was not aware of my actions. I realized I was doing things that I should not be doing. It was clear to me that I was not being myself. Now I know that the first step to being yourself is to stop thinking about yourself and start thinking about others.

And once you realize youre not taking the steps for yourself, there is no longer any need for you to take any steps for yourself. What once felt like a heavy burden now feels like just a little distraction. It doesn’t feel like the weight I once felt. Now I know I can always get up and do something.

I went to a lama driving school just last week, and I was absolutely shocked at how much better I am. I got a real driver’s license last week too. I told the instructor I was a full-time student, and she looked me straight in the eyes and said, “That’s great, but you really need to think about what you want to be when you grow up.” Now I think I know what I want to be.

Well it’s not perfect, but it’s not that hard to get a driving license for what you want to be. It’s just that you’ll never feel like you’re a part of what you want to be, and the only way you’ll get that is if you’re doing something.

What you want to do and what you do can be very different. The key is to get out of your comfort zone and to take responsibility for your decisions. It sounds ridiculous to say, but it’s true. If youre in a situation, you are responsible for getting out of it and making a change, and that responsibility will carry you through. In fact, it will likely make you a better driver. I know this because I did it myself.
