Say you’re going to do your best to keep your current job. Then, write down what it is that causes you not to go back. I’m sure you’ll get a sense of what it is that motivates you to keep your job.
This is where the big difference between the “self-aware” and “non-self-aware” comes into play. In the first case you can’t do something because you dont want to do it, so you dont actually do it. In the second, you do it because you want to because you have a real short-term goal of not being in the office.
You can actually get a sense for the motivation for you to keep your current job by asking yourself a few questions. If youre a business owner, for example, you might find that you dont want to go back to your company because you dont want to spend all your time working for it. If youre a high school teacher, you might find that you dont want to go back to your school because you dont want to spend all your time working for it.
And if youre a writer, you might find that you dont want to go back to your writing hobby because you dont want to spend all your time doing it. If youre a journalist, you might find that you dont want to go back to your news organization because you dont want to spend all your time being a journalist.
